Join us for a fun-filled NATURE PLAY DAYS at Common Ground
Young children and their caregivers are invited to explore a variety of outdoor, play-based, nature education activities. Come connect with nature, engage your curiosity, and enjoy a day of playing and learning outside!
Who: Young children and their caregivers are invited to explore outdoor, play-based, nature education activities throughout the beautiful property along the Vermilion River.
What: Nature Play Days are opportunities for young children and their caregivers to explore and play together and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Nature Play Days will take place rain or shine so please dress for the weather!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Nature Play Days are facilitated by experienced early childhood educators dedicated to increasing access to and awareness of the benefits of Nature Education. Activities are designed to create joyful learning opportunities in an outdoor setting for young children and their families.
- Common Ground Center has a gazebo, picnic tables, and shady areas where you can take a break and relax. You are welcome to bring a picnic snack or lunch to enjoy while you are here.
- Nature Play Days are held outside rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. You may also want to consider the time of year and weather. You may need sun protection and/or bug repellent and plenty of water.
- Nature Play Days invite children to explore a variety of activities in several areas throughout the beautiful Common Ground property. Regrettably, due to the nature of the property, not all are accessible to
those with mobility issues. However we have ensured that there are multiple opportunities that are accessible, and there will be accessible parking. - The Vermilion River runs alongside the Common Ground property. Please be aware that there are several access points to water and monitor children closely.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Registration is required. The cost is $10 per family.
- Attendees may get wet, dirty, muddy, or tear clothing. Please keep that in mind when dressing for the day.
- There are inherent risks in outdoor play in nature. Please keep that in mind and keep a close eye on your children at all times.
- There will be a variety of activities throughout the property encompassing the interests of children with a wide-range of abilities and interests. Please keep in mind that every child may not want to or be able to participate in every activity.
- While accessibility to all is always our goal, due to the nature of the property not all activities are accessible to those with mobility issues.
- Please keep in mind that those with mobility issues will be able to participate in a variety of engaging activities, but not all of the areas of the property are easily accessed.
