We’ve been helping Ohio communities explore for over 20 years.
Who We Are
Common Ground – the Cindy Nord Center for Renewal, provides transformational opportunities for individuals and groups to connect with nature, themselves and others through a variety of experiences. Located on 30 acres in Oberlin, Ohio, Common Ground is home to summer day camps for youth and teens, a top-rated zipline canopy tour, team building programs and much more.
Through innovative programs and vibrant experiences we help nurture the body, challenge the mind and renew the spirit of each individual to embrace who they are, to realize their potential, and to experience their connection to all things.
What We Are
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We feel cost should never be a barrier to a person experiencing the programs we offer. So we depend on a number of donors and funding sources to help minimize the costs.
What We Do
Common Ground hosts programs for both youth and adults that connect people with nature and themselves.
Social and Emotional Learning
Life School is our social and emotional learning program designed for middle school and high school aged students that emphasizes building healthy relationships, understanding feelings, developing empathy, managing emotions, and developing social responsibility.
Adventure Challenge is loaded with fun, action-based activities that encourage growth in areas such as trust, communication, self-confidence, and leadership.
Nature Based Play and Education
New to Common Ground is our Canopy Classroom. Our top-rated zipline canopy tour provides the perfect opportunity for students to learn about gravity, friction and more in our STEM based program, The Science Behind the Ziplines. And, the tour also gives a front row seat to Forest Ecology, our program that covers ecology, conservation and stewardship.
Earth Camp and Teen Adventure Camp, our summer camps immerse kids in the great outdoors where they learn, play and make memories that last a lifetime. Earth Camp services kids ages 6-14 and Teen Adventure Camp is for kids ages 15-17.
Common Ground is home to a top-rate 2.5 hour zipline canopy tour through the treetops of our 30 acre campus in the beautiful Vermilion River Valley. Built to help support our nonprofit work, the canopy continues to attract thrill seekers from near and far.
How You Can Help
Donate to Common Ground
More than 70% of youth attend our summer camp with the help of financial aid. Many school groups that visit Common Ground require help to do so. We could not do this without our generous supporters. All donations are tax deductible.
