Earth Camp 2019

Earth Camp is a fun, exciting, and educational summer day camp for children ages 6-14. Kids enjoy time outdoors while learning about themselves, others, and the environment. Each week features a unique environmental theme, ranging from wildlife studies to river and watershed exploration. Memories are made as campers enjoy experiences ranging from horseback riding and river walking to team building activities, art, hiking, music, drama, and swimming.

Earth Camp Weekly Descriptions

Camp takes place Monday – Friday from 9am – 3pm with before/after camp hours available

Eco-Adventures

Week 1 — June 24-28

Use your imagination, senses, and curiosity to explore the earth around us. This week you will be challenged to increase your awareness of yourself, each other, the world around you, and how we’re all interconnected through interactive, environmentally focused activities.

Radical River

Week 2 — July 1-5

Explore the east branch of the Vermilion River that runs through Common Ground. “Go with the flow” while taking river walks and interacting with “critters” that make the river their home. Learn about the awesome power of the river and the role it plays in our lives. Camp is open July 4th (Four day camp option available this week only)

A Bug’s Life

Week 3 — July 8-12

Bugs, bugs, everywhere! Did you know that bugs outnumber us 200 million to one? Interact with these creepy crawly creatures in their natural habitat on our 30-acre property. Come live a day in the life of your favorite insect!

Wild Ohio

Week 4 — July 15-19

Inquire, investigate, and discover amazing plants and animals that are indigenous to Northeast Ohio. Explore the many habitats that are on our 30 acres through interactive, hands-on activities and nature hiking.

Nature Survival Quest

Week 5 – July 22-26

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in the wilderness? Learn about surviving in the wild and the basics of finding your way when lost. Become your own survivalist utilizing your outdoor living skills! Solar pizza anyone?

Best of the Best

Week 6 — July 29-August 2

We’re taking the BEST songs, games, and crazy activities from our first five weeks and smashing them together for one incredible week. This summer’s going to end with a bang!

Earth Camp Fees

Earth Camp costs $197 per week.

  • Early Bird Discount: $177 per week if registered by March 31st, 2019
  • Due to the July 4 holiday, we offer a 4 day camp option for a rate of $157.60 for the week of July 1. Campers would attend Monday-Wednesday and Friday.

Extended Camp Hours

Common Ground offers Before and After Care for your campers. Drop off begins as early as 7:30am and pick up as late as 5:30pm.

  • Before Camp Fee: $25 per week
  • After Camp Fee: $45 per week

High Ropes Adventure

Add more adventure to your camp week! Campers will test their stamina, agility, and flexibility as they push pass perceived limitations; while being on a challenge course suspended 20 feet above ground.

  • Minimum Age: 10 years
  • Minimum Height: 4’10” tall
  • Maximum Weight: 250lbs (Subject to harness fit.)
  • High Ropes Adventure Fee: $28 per week

Because of your family’s participation in our camp season, we’d like to reward your family with 20% off of our world class zipline Canopy Tour! Receive your discount code after registering online for a week or more of camp.

Transportation

Caregivers have the option to transport their children to and from camp OR can take advantage of bussing options. Designated locations are in Elyria, Lorain, and Oberlin.
