Staff

Common Ground draws on a diverse and highly qualified applicant pool in selecting its staff for Earth Camp. The majority of our staff are highly-motivated college students studying psychology, childhood education, and social work. Successful candidates pass through a rigorous selection process and must write a cover letter and resume, interview, and submit to a reference and federal/state criminal background check. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and go through a comprehensive, week-long training. The staff experience at Earth Camp has frequently been described as "life changing" and “the best job ever!”

General Counselor

Looking for a fantastic job working with kids this summer?

Lead, supervise and counsel a group of 10-12 campers through daily activities. Plan and lead team building and recreational activities at an environmentally-based, non-competitive camp with a diverse camper population. Participate in developing and conducting rainy day programs and special events. Maintain a climate of safety, good judgment and mentoring at all times.

Qualifications: Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds, camp and counseling experience preferred, team oriented. Must demonstrate personal leadership and maturity traits, appreciation of outdoors, creativity with children, optimistic outlook, ability to remain calm and collected while facing stressful situations, ability to plan curriculums. Applicants must be available from June 8th – August 1st. Minimum age: 18.

Summer Camp Lifeguard

Looking for a fantastic job working with kids and lifeguarding?

Instruct swimmers on basic swimming skills and perform all lifeguard duties. Maintain the pool area. Participate in developing and conducting rainy day programs and special events.

Qualifications: Must have all current lifeguard certificates. Must be able and willing to work with all other staff members to ensure the safety of the swimming program. Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds, team oriented. Must demonstrate personal leadership and maturity traits, appreciation of outdoors, creativity with children, optimistic outlook, ability to remain calm and collected while facing stressful situations.

Environmental Specialist

Looking for a fantastic job sharing your love of the environment with kids?

Plan and lead environmental/nature activities reflecting weekly themes. Participate in developing and conducting rainy day programs and special events.

Qualifications: Background in environmental studies and experience working with children from diverse backgrounds. Camp and counseling experience preferred, team oriented. Must demonstrate personal leadership and maturity traits, appreciation of outdoors, creativity with children, optimistic outlook, ability to remain calm and collected while facing stressful situations, ability to plan curriculums.

Peacemaker

Looking for a fantastic job helping kids grow, play games, and learn character building skills?

Plan and lead cooperative and teambuilding activities and games, promote healthy conflict resolution.

Qualifications: Experience working with challenging youth of diverse backgrounds, camp and counseling experience preferred, team oriented. Arts & Crafts Specialist

Plan and lead arts & crafts activities reflecting weekly environmental themes for kids ages 6-11. Participate in developing and conducting rainy day programs and special events.

Horse Specialist

Looking for a fantastic job working with horses and kids?

Plan and lead basic activities with horses for kids ages 6-11. Participate in conducting rainy day activities and special events.

Qualifications: Background in caring for horses and animals and experience and enthusiasm for working with children from diverse backgrounds. Camp and counseling experience preferred, team oriented.
