Combining the excitement of ziplining, the benefits of time spent in nature, and the importance of STEM curriculum for today’s youth has become a reality at Common Ground. On Oct. 27 the staff of Common Ground Canopy Tours was proud to offer their first Canopy Classroom Program, STEM: The Science Behind Ziplines, to 10 Advanced Placement Physics students from Vermilion High School. The field trip was arranged by two Vermilion HS teachers, Joe Schneid and Jake Baker, who had attended our Canopy Classroom session offered to teachers for NEOEA Day two weeks prior. Joe and Jake obviously enjoyed and saw the benefits of the STEM program. Two weeks later, on a sunny autumn Friday, they were back in the treetops with their students. Measuring, calculating, and having a great time zipping through their Canopy Classroom.
