Earth Camp is an exciting opportunity for children ages 6 -11 to enjoy outdoor recreation while learning about nature. Each week at Earth Camp will include swimming, horseback riding, music, arts and crafts, games, hiking and nature exploration.

Weekly Theme Descriptions for Earth Camp

Earth Explorers - Week 1 (June 16-June 20)
Earth is our home and it is our job to take care of it for future generations. Use your imagination and senses to explore the wonders of Earth around you. This week you can find answers to some of the mysteries of Earth.

“Wild” Life - Week 2 (June 23-June 27)
The forest is full of wild adventures. Climb Dead Man’s Mountain and explore the hidden corners of Earth Camp. Learn about how plants grow and are essential to our survival.

Radical River - Week 3 (June 30-July 3)(no Camp July 4th)
Explore the East Branch of the Vermilion River that runs through Common Ground. Take a river walk and interact with the living things that make the river their home. Learn about the awesome powers of the river and the role it plays in our lives.

A Bug’s Life - Week 4 (July 7-July 11)
Bugs, Bugs, Everywhere! Did you know that bugs outnumber us 200 million to one? These creepy crawly wonders are everywhere just waiting to amaze us. Come live a day in the life of your favorite insect!

Animal Adventures - Week 5 (July 14-July 18)
A safari of fun awaits you here at Earth Camp. Come journey through the tracks of your favorite animal. Learn what animals in Ohio eat, where they sleep, and what they do for fun!

Nature Survival - Week 6 (July 21-July 25)
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in the woods? Learn about surviving in the wild and the basics of finding your way when lost. Build an all natural shelter. It's a giant world out there and it's great to know how to succeed in it!

Wet and Wonderful - Week 7 (July 28-August 1)
SPLASH! Naturally drawn to water? Then this week is for you! Beat the heat while playing a variety of water games. Get up to your knees in water, while taking a hike in the river or discovering the oxbow.

Hours: Camp is in session five days a week - Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 3:00pm.

Transportation: Safe camp buses pick up children at designated locations or parents may bring their children directly to camp. Car pooling is encouraged. Bus transportation not available in all areas.

Lunches: Lunches are NOT provided. Children must bring a packed lunch from home unless other arrangements are made. On Fridays there is a cookout and Earth Camp will provide the food for the entire camp. The food will include hot dogs, potato chips, fruits, and marshmallows. If this lunch is not appropriate for your child, please send lunch with him/her.

Parents are invited to the Friday cookout and the afternoon events.
