Schools

Purpose: The Pathfinders-Schools program seeks to create a more cohesive classroom environment that fosters independent thinking and high-level problem solving skills by making use of our core outdoor experiential Pathfinders approach. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication, and trust, themes that are crucial to a healthy classroom environment.

Accomplished Through: A typical Pathfinders-Schools day is 4-5 hours long, as determined by each school group. Students are broken into groups of 10-15 and switch between several activity stations. Each of the activities lends to processing on distinct aspects of teamwork, communication, and trust. Common Ground provides written discussion topics and questions to classes before the days as well as a post-day written reflection and evaluation assignment, creating a comprehensive program designed to integrate itself into the Pathfinders curriculum.

Audience: For close to a decade, Common Ground has served thousands of Lorain County students through our outdoor experiential education programming. Common Ground accommodates school groups of up to 60 youth from diverse populations, ages, and outdoor experience levels.
