PLAGUE AND THE MOONFLOWER coming to the U.S.

Common Ground is pleased and honored to be working with Moonflower Productions International to help bring "Plague and the Moonflower" to New York City in April 2009. This widely acclaimed oratorio captures both the despair and the inspiration thrust upon Earth's inhabitants by the prospect of a dying planet.

In this seminal work, prolific English composer, conductor and virtuoso instrumentalist Richard Harvey interweaves narration, solo vocal and guitar performances, and choruses of children and adults - as many as 100 voices - to convey the spirit of Ralph Steadman's powerful libretto.  To learn more about this environmental conscious-raising performance and how you can purchase limited edition prints of Ralph Steadman artwork to support the project...

Are you ready to drum in the New Year?

We are excited to announce the 2008 schedule for one of our most popular Body, Mind, and Spirit programs. Come and join us for another great year of fun, creativity, and personal growth with Common Ground's Community Drum Circle.

Drumming is an ancient musical tradition that many cultures around the world use to energize, build unity, focus attention, relax, and heighten creativity.  A community drum circle is a group of people who come together to make in-the-moment music.  No musical experience is necessary and beginners are always welcome.  A facilitator will be present to help participants feel comfortable and learn basic drumming techniques.  Bring your own drum or feel welcome to use one of ours.  No need to register – Just show up!  Community Drum Circle is on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Support Common Ground and Receive Beautiful Environmental Art Photographs

Environmental Art photo

Support Common Ground and receive your choice of a photograph of environmental art created at Common Ground by Elyria High School student artists. Students engaged their imagination as they viewed their unusual palette and canvas: our beautiful, natural setting of 21 acres in the Vermilion River Valley. No paint and brushes, no charcoal and paper..."art supplies" were whatever they could find in the environment around them. They became co-creators with nature, bringing to life something new -- fascinating art that speaks to and contemplates our relationship with the natural world. Harmony is clearly visible in these images. Photos were taken by our executive director Rick Grahovac. These gallery-quality photographs are our way of saying thank you for supporting Common Ground's innovative programs, like the Environmental Art Day field trip.
