For several years, Common Ground has collaborated with area schools to produce our Outdoor Adventure Days. Students utilize the outdoor environment to learn experientially about interpersonal concepts such as teamwork, trust, and cooperation. Moreover, students, teachers, and staff all have tons of fun!
Common Ground accommodates school groups of up to 100 youth in 5th-12th grade, from diverse populations and outdoor experience levels. Our Days are customized to take into account the needs of participants and schools. As participants collaborate in outdoor activities, our trained facilitators encourage the integration of concepts such as trust, teamwork, effective communication, and creativity all while using Common Ground's beautiful natural setting as a metaphor for our work. Through the use of interactive experiential outdoor initiatives, we build personal character, self-esteem, and leadership skills, as well as challenge young people to see how their actions play a role in the greater community.
