Teen Advantage Program

We are pleased to announce a brand new program at Earth Camp 2008, the Teen Advantage Program (TAP)! TAP will replace our CIT program of past summers. In many ways the TAP program will resemble the old CIT program, but will offer more fun and structured opportunities for teens aged 13-15 to explore their leadership potential, develop assets, and gain experience working with younger children.

TAP is a structured program that will span the seven weeks of Earth Camp from June 16th - August 1st. TAP will involve three core components:

  • Experiential activities, games, and interactive discussions designed to teach leadership skills and build developmental assets such as self-esteem, working successfully in groups, and communicating effectively are an integral part of the TAP program. Not only will these activities be educational, they will also be lots of fun!
  • Participants will develop a mentoring relationship with a staff member throughout the summer. Participants will ask staff members questions and participate in structured activities focused on the theme of leadership.
  • Participants will take their training into the field as they work with younger kids under the guidance of our staff. They will have the opportunity to lead activities for younger kids.

In order to be eligible for the TAP program, teens must:

-be between the ages of 13-15 at the time of camp.

-have a spark of leadership and desire to grow as a person.

-be interested in working with kids and mature enough to model appropriate behavior.

-agree to participate in all aspects of the program, including experiential activities and games, developing a mentoring relationship with staff, and helping with younger children.

-commit to being present all seven weeks of camp from June 16th - August 1st (exceptions are occasionally made).

Applicants to the program must complete and return an application by May 1st, 2008. For more information or to request an application, please contact our youth program coordinator David Jessop.
